History of D&W Mechanical

Founded in 1986

Founded in 1986 by Terry Dudley and Maurice White, D&W Mechanical began with a simple yet powerful belief: do honest work, take care of people, and never lose sight of the customer experience. From its earliest days in Traverse City, Michigan, the company was built on traditional values — show up, do what you say you’ll do, and treat every heating and cooling project with care and pride.  In 2019, Jack Ocobock purchased Maurice White’s ownership stake and stepped into a leadership role, continuing the vision that had guided the company from the beginning. While ownership evolved, the mission stayed the same. We’ve always believed that the strength of our HVAC and plumbing solutions comes down to the people delivering them. That belief continues to shape everything we do — from hiring and training to supporting the skilled, dependable professionals who represent D&W Mechanical every day.

Today, co-owners David Dudley and Jack Ocobock Jr continue the legacy, building on more than 40 years of serving the families and businesses of our community. Having worked side by side with their fathers, they carry forward the same values D&W Mechanical was built on — honesty, hard work, and taking care of people.   We’re especially proud of the multigenerational team we’ve grown right here in our community. Knowledge is passed down, craftsmanship is respected, and a strong commitment to safety and integrity guides every job. For us, this isn’t just a trade — it’s about supporting the people and places that make our community strong.  That dedication to people, family, and mentorship is what allows us to provide trusted residential and commercial HVAC and plumbing solutions throughout Traverse City and Northern Michigan. We’re grateful for the trust our community has placed in us and honored to be the team you call for heating, cooling, and comfort — today and for generations to come.
